What happened in Wisconsin's

2024 Elections?

Wisconsin’s 2024 Election by the Numbers

  • 2024 General Turnout: 3,425,000 (76.93% Voting Eligible Population)
  • 2024 General Election Workers: 12,000+
  • 2024 Primary Turnout: 1.2M

Wisconsin’s 2024 elections were free, fair, and secure.

For the primary elections, 1.2 million Wisconsinites turned out to vote.

3.4 million Wisconsinites turned out for the general elections in November. More than 12,000 election workers made sure voting was a smooth and secure process for voters across the state.

In 2024, as in other elections, ballots in Wisconsin were subject to strict chain of custody requirements, which means nonpartisan election officials are legally required to monitor and track every ballot through each stage of the process. This included ballots cast by mail, through secure drop boxes, as well as those cast in person. Depending on the type of election, Wisconsin elections offices conduct certain kinds of post-election audits to verify that the election was conducted correctly and followed state law. This includes a requirement that ballots be randomly audited against machine counts to ensure accuracy. It was confirmed that all major 2024 election results in Wisconsin were accurate through this process.

In Wisconsin, results from all major statewide and national elections were known within two weeks. All counties in the state certified the results for the general elections in 2024 by November 18th. Republican State Representative Scott Krug stated that “the protections we put in place to secure our elections did the intended job.” Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos said the 2024 elections in Wisconsin “worked well”. Republican former Governor Scott McCallum says voters should trust the voting process. “Every ballot is audited three times before it gets officially counted as a vote. So, you have a local audit, which then goes to the county that does their own audit, and then all those votes get audited at the state”, he stated.
